Pilau

Cindy
This is a very quick and easy recipe to prepare pilau. I chose this because I didn’t have many groceries. I didn’t have any vegetables other than onions. I had rice and meat. I never lack ginger and garlic. Luckily, I had pilau masala, soy sauce, and salt and that’s all I needed.

Equipment

  • Cooking pot
  • Cooking stick
  • Knife
  • Chopping board
  • Pestle and mortar or grater
  • 1 plate
  • 1 bowl

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp Cooking oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp pilau masala
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 6 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1 cup Pishori rice
  • ¼ kg Goat meat

Instructions

  • Boil the meat till tender. Apart from being a delicious high protein red meat full of vitamins and minerals🤤, goat meat also takes a shorter time to cook compared to beef.
  • Meanwhile, unpeel the ginger, garlic, and onion. Dice the onions, pound the ginger and garlic using a pestle and mortar. You can also use a grater to grate your ginger and garlic.
  • When the meat is tender and you still have the stock, drain and preserve it for later use.
  • Now that you have drained the stock and set aside the meat on a plate, use the same cooking pot to fry your onions in the cooking oil.
  • When they’re about to turn golden, toss in ginger and garlic, fry till golden brown.
  • Add pilau masala, salt, and soy sauce, keep stirring.
  • Add your rice and meat and let them fry for a minute while you keep stirring.
  • Add your stock. The liquid you’re adding should double the number of cups of rice. Mine was one cup of rice and I had 1 cup of stock so I added 1 cup of water too.
  • Just when it starts to boil, reduce the heat and cover the pot.
  • Once it is nice and dry it’s ready to be devoured🤤.
