Instructions
Prepare Simple Syrup
Place equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan. For this mojto recipe, we are using ½ cup sugar and ½ cup water.
Heat over medium and whisk until the sugar dissolves.
Cool to room temperature.
Contiue with preparing the mojito
Mash some mint leaves to release their juices.
Add the lime juice, rum, and simple syrup
and shake it in a cocktail shaker.
Place ice into a glass, and strain into the glass the cocktail. Top off the glass with soda water
. Adorn with mint leaves.
Notes
As an alternative to simple syrup, you can use maple syrup to sweeten your mojito. Simple syrup usually lasts for 1 month while refrigerated.
