Learn how to prepare French fries the classic way. It is simple, quick and yields some awesome fries.
Ingredients
- Cooking oil
- 5 Medium-sized potatoes
- Salt (to taste)
- Ground black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Fill a large skillet (or sufuria) with oil to a depth of about 4-5 inches.
- Heat over medium-high heat until the oil temperature reaches 150°C.
- Peel the potato and slice into 1cm batons. Be sure to dry the potato batons thoroughly with paper towels.
- Par-fry the fries in the hot oil for about 5 minutes, or until lightly browned and tender. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fries to a paper-towel lined baking sheet to drain then season with salt.
- Increase the oil temperature to 190˚C then return the fries to the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy in about 4 minutes minutes.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fries to the paper towel to drain. Season with salt and pepper.
- Serve and enjoy
